Old Ulster Bank Building

The concept behind this project is ‘Irish Heritage”. The idea came from a love of Irish culture, the local landscape of Wicklow, and the rich history of the building itself. The design takes the old Ulster Bank building in Blessington and turns it into a boutique hotel that feels warm, personal and rooted in its surroundings. The colour palette of forest green, brown, gold and cream were inspired by the Irish countryside and gives the space a cosy, welcoming feel. Natural materials like oak, stone, leather and linen are used throughout the design to reflect on its surrounding natural landscape. The original Georgian features of the building are preserved and celebrated rather than hidden. The vault, one of the most unique parts of the building, is kept as a key feature of the hotel. The overall aim is to give guests a stay that feels genuinely Irish and truly special.
